Some anti depressants and other medications are believed to cure anxiety. It’s important to know the truth. Anti anxiety medication can certainly help with overcoming anxiety but on a limited basis. What do I mean? Studies show that when a patient is treated with medication alone and then goes off it, they experience relapse rates upwards to 90%! Why? Because they simply didn’t learn any personal anxiety treatment coping skills. This can make all the difference in the world.

While some individuals suffer horribly with anxiety to the point of becoming incapacitated, others may only experience anxiety in certain situations. Where you begin is vital. It’s important to know which form of anxiety you have first! In order to do this I recommend a thorough evaluation by a qualified professional.

You may have already tried several treatments for anxiety and found no relief. Please stay hopeful. You do not have to continue living this way. Some strategies will not work for you, but I am completely confident you will find a treatment for anxiety that will abolish even severe anxiety.

Remember watching TV and seeing someone go for the paper bag? It may have been a comedy but if you saw this and suffer from severe anxiety it likely wasn’t funny to you. However, the paper bag gag is actually quite useful. People no longer have to travel around with paper bags (if you do, that is great), but learning how to master the breath is essential in most all anxiety treatments. Think of it like this. Your breath communicates to your nervous system. If you are holding your breath or breathing too fast you’re sending the message that there is danger. Your body releases all it’s stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline and you’re off to destroy whatever is endangering you. Oh, that’s right, there is no immediate danger is there? So, as you can see, it is important that your breath speak clearly to your nervous system that you are safe. This is amazingly simple, but not always easy to get a handle on. Be gentle with yourself as you begin to master your breath.

Whatever you do, please reach out for help. Anxiety is one of the most treatable disorders we help people with everyday. Your first order of business is to do your homework. Make certain that the therapist you consult has both training and experience in anxiety treatments. Put yourself into the caring hands of a capable therapist.

Once you’re on the ‘other side’ you will be ecstatic. Many realize, as thier anxiety cures, how different they begin to look at life. Your hope for feeling peaceful may be a couple sessions away!

Have faith in knowing there are several proven techniques for anxiety treatment. Stay the course, hook up with a professional therapist and I guarantee you will be feeling better soon.
